Context

TMCO is the official platform of the public transport network for the Communauté de Communes du Centre-Ouest (3CO) in Mayotte — a territory covering 5 municipalities and over 50,000 residents. The project was carried out for the agency UWEZO, with a Laravel backend exposing APIs and a Next.js frontend.

My role

I primarily worked on the frontend, responsible for the Next.js interface used by the network’s users, consuming the Laravel APIs. I also handled **Docker containerization**, dependency management via **Composer**, and the **CI/CD pipeline**.

The real challenge: calculating routes

The most difficult part of the project had nothing to do with the interface: it was the route calculation on the map. I implemented the **Dijkstra** algorithm to find the shortest path between two stops, taking into account the actual network of lines and transfers between the 5 municipalities. Once this core component was in place, the rest of the integration (search, schedule display, responsiveness) went smoothly.

Technical stack

  • **Backend:** Laravel (API)
  • **Frontend:** Next.js
  • **Dependency management:** Composer
  • **Containerization:** Docker
  • **CI/CD:** deployment pipeline up to production
  • **Area covered:** 5 municipalities, Mayotte

Outcome

A public platform that allows over 50,000 residents to plan their public transport trips, with reliable route calculations even across a network with multiple transfers.
